Rory McIlroy appears to have donated one of his old drivers to a commenter through Facebook

November 03, 2015

Reading the comments below a celebrity's social-media post can be both entertaining and exhausting. People say the weirdest things. But for one guy who asked Rory McIlroy if he could have Rory's old driver on one of Rory's Facebook posts, his persistence appears to have paid off.

A post on Reddit shows a screenshot of Rory replying to a comment from a fan -- Barry Edwards -- who asked for one of his old Nike drivers. To the shock and disbelief of this guy, Rory obliged!

This is the same driver Rory used to win the 2014 Open Championship and PGA Championship. (Remember the Rory Era?) It worked PRETTY well, as Rory smashed 300-plus yard drives down the fairway on the reg.

The World No. 3 currently has a Nike Vapor Pro driver in his bag, which he used to win the WGC-Cadillac Match Play and Wells Fargo Championship in May, and the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February.

Even if Rory wasn't the one actually replying to this guy, it's a cool move by his team. The only downside? More folks might start trolling tour-pro's social-media pages if they know a free driver is possible!
