Rickie Fowler started the 2016 Masters with a roller-coaster first round

Rickie Fowler started his Thursday morning paying tribute to the Honorary Starters, watching as Jack, Gary and Arnie held court on the first tee at Augusta National. And then Fowler started to make his own presence known.

After his tee shot at No. 1 found trouble to the right, his escape bounded through the fairway and into more trouble right. The result was a double bogey.

Rickie actually recovered nicely to get it back to one-under, before things went south for the 27-year-old.

Fowler birdied Nos. 2, 3 and 5 to get it to red numbers. But the 27-year-old made bogeys at 10 and 13, then followed that up with a triple bogey at the par-5 13th hole. No bueno.

A wet tee shot at the par-3 16th hole put the nail on the coffin of Fowler's first round. He was the hottest golfer on the course after getting it to 1-under through five. Now he's almost dead-last, 7-over through 16. Tough day, Rickie.
