Jason Kokrak had played just two PGA Tour events since the Tour Championship in early September, and none in the last four weeks. But the 36-year-old veteran showed no rust at the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open on Sunday.

A closing five-under 65 at Memorial Park, with four straight birdies on Nos. 13-16, allowed him to rally from two back at the start of the final round to win by two shots over Kevin Tway and Scottie Scheffler.

For Kokrak, who finished at 10-under 270, it was his third career tour title, all three coming within his last 28 starts dating back to the CJ Cup in October 2020 after needing 233 start to earn his first.

“I just think that back nine … if you hit a lot of fairways you can kind of get after it,” Kokrak said. "[And then I] made some nice putts."

Kokrak outlasted Tway, who closed with a final-round 68, and Scheffler, who had a one-shot lead heading into the final round but struggled on the back nine, making three early bogeys en route to a closing 69.

The victory for Kokrak was made all the more impressive considering he was 10 shots off the lead after 36 holes, opening with a 68-71, before shooting 66-65 over the weekend.

With the victory, Kokrak claimed the first-place prize money payout of $1.35 million from an overall purse of $7.5 million

The overall prize money payout at Memorial Park is $7.5 million with the winner earning $1.35 million. Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer in the field; comeback shortly after the finish of the event to see each player’s name and finish as well as their corresponding payday.
