Poulter turns heads with new white driver

November 05, 2010

After the second round of the HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, Ian Poulter tweeted, "Played lovely today game is in great shape for the weekend. I hope you all like my New Cobra Limited Edition White ZL driver. It's awesome."

A white driver?

Indeed. Shortly after Poluter told Cobra that he would be putting the driver in play this week, the company announced that it was introducing the club in very limited supply (500 units) at a cost of $625 with each driver marked with a production serial number. The Limited Edition ZL Driver utilizes a multi-material construction and an adjustable hosel and comes with an all-white Fujikura's Motore Speeder shaft as well as an all-white Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G grip. Although the club may seem outside the mainstream, the idea of limited-edition special products is not new for Puma, which recently acquired Cobra Golf.[#image: /photos/55ad72d3b01eefe207f69702]|||White-ZL-Address_V1B[1].png|||

"Puma has a history of introducing special-edition products to create buzz and create a closer relationship with their consumers," said Cobra spokesman Todd Colburn. "But they only do it with a product that authentic and rooted in performance. The ZL is one of our most technologically advanced drivers, which is why Ian [Poulter] plays it."

Well part of the reason. Another is simply the look. "It's really very cool," said Poulter. "It's unique and different than any driver I've seen."
