Ponky's uncertain future

March 26, 2009

Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton, Mass., is either a "Mona Lisa covered in mud," as Richard Singer of the National Golf Foundation described it, or the worst course in America, as it came to be known after former Sports Illustrated writer Rick Reilly immortalized with this 1988 story and a subsequent novel, "Missing Links."

Either way, Ponky's future is murky, according to this Canton News story. It is a 36-hole facility with only 27 holes operational and is need of repairs that could cost as much as $10 million.
