Players 2021: Phil Mickelson after lucky bank shot off the trees: 'That's some career s*** right there'

You would think we’ve seen it all from Phil Mickelson at this point. The 44-time PGA Tour winner is making his 638th start on the PGA Tour this week—and he has dazzled us throughout his 30-year career.

But he did it again on Saturday at TPC Sawgrass. Faced with a really difficult angle at the par-4 sixth hole—in a fairway bunker and seemingly blocked out by the giant palm trees in front of him—Phil did Phil stuff … but the result even shocked him and his playing partner Charles Howell III.

That duo has seen nearly everything there is to see on the PGA Tour. But Phil’s bank shot off the trees amused them, and their back-and-forth was incredible, too.

The shot brought back memories of his marvelous escape shot at the 10th hole during his 2007 victory at the Players Championship. We'll say there was a lot more luck involved with his shot on Saturday at the Players ... and Phil's reaction would tell you he would agree.

That's some career s*** indeed, Lefty. Still entertaining fans on the PGA Tour at age 50.
