Play to resume after seven-hour delay
NEWPORT, Wales -- The good news out of Celtic Manor is that play will resume at 5 p.m. local time, some seven-plus hours after play was suspended.
The bad news is that will only allow for enough time for just a few holes before sunset, meaning the Friday morning four-ball will be completed on Saturday morning, and that play will undoubtedly be pushed into Monday.
Nothing has been made official on that front, but given the forecast and the already short supply of daylight at this time of year, it's an inevitability.
According to a captain's agreement, play has to end by Monday at sunset. Even if matches are still on the course at that time, they will be declared halved, and the results of the completed matches will stand as the final result.
