Dream job alert: One of the most historic golf clubs in America is looking for an assistant superintendent
2023 is coming to a close and with a new year comes the urge for a fresh start. For many, this might mean getting in shape or finding romance, but for others, especially in today’s job market, it could be as a simple as landing a new job.
If you’re one of those restless souls, looking to rejuvenate your career or perhaps even head back to the crossroads to try a different path, we have a lead for you and it’s a doozy:
Philadelphia Cricket Club, the historic stomping grounds of a young A.W. Tillinghast in the early 1900s, is looking for an assistant superintendent.
Sick of pushing papers from one corner of your desk to another? Out of small talk at the water cooler? Love the smell of fresh-cut grass? Then this gig might be for you, provided you don’t mind an early wake-up call and know your way around an aerator.
The job will cover Philadelphia Cricket Club’s two campuses—St. Martins and Flourtown—which encompass all three PCC golf courses, including the fabled Wissahickon, designed by Tillinghast himself in the 1920s. After undergoing an extensive restoration in the past decade, Wissahickon ranked as Golf Digest’s fifth-best course in the state of Pennsylvania in 2023 and earned the 124th spot on our Second 100 Greatest ranking.
The job pays $55,000-$70,000; includes health, medical, dental and vision; and, perhaps best of all, comes with golf privileges. If you’d like to throw your name into the hat, apply here by January 15th.
