PGA Tour: Dustin Johnson leads, Spieth to miss cut

February 19, 2016

Dustin Johnson, who lost the Northern Trust Open in a playoff last year, took the early lead in the second round on Friday morning, shooting a five-under par 66 at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Jordan Spieth, meanwhile, will miss the cut, though his second-round score of three-under par 68 was 11 strokes better than his opening-round 79. Spieth, No. 1 in the World Ranking, birdied four consecutive holes in mid-round to give himself an outside change of advancing to the weekend, but then bogeyed three of the five following holes.

First-round leader Camilo Villegas, who shot a 63 on Thursday, faltered early, going out in four-over par 39.
