PGA Tour adds new tournament to 2017-2018 schedule

October 19, 2016

The PGA Tour is in Asia the next two weeks for the CIMB Classic in Malaysia and the WGC-HSBC Champions in China. It appears that journey will be extended to three in 2017. According to the Yonhap News Agency, the tour has decided to add a tournament to its fall itinerary, to be held in South Korea. The CJ Group, a South Korean conglomerate, is set to be the event's primary sponsor. Other details, including venue, purse and field size, are expected to be made public in a Monday announcement in Seoul.

The move comes as golf continues to capitalize on the global coverage afforded by the game's return to the Olympics. Earlier this week, the tour announced the Champions circuit will be making its inaugural appearance in Japan.
