Norm Macdonald dishes on SNL's 40th Anniversary Special and Bill Murray's golf obsession in epic Twitter rant

February 19, 2015

Norm Macdonald went on an epic Twitter rant last night, which, if you follow Norm Macdonald on Twitter, isn't that unusual. The comedian wanted to fill fans in about the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special and the crux of the 110-tweet spree centered around Eddie Murphy and whether or not he would play Bill Cosby in the "Celebrity Jeopardy" sketch Macdonald was co-writing.

Murphy eventually opted against it (Kenan Thompson made the brief cameo instead), but the three-hour show was still a huge success -- thanks in part to another SNL legend, Bill Murray, overcoming a potential scheduling conflict. Here are Norm's tweets addressing everybody's favorite celebrity golfer:

Fortunately (for those watching the show), Murray and Points missed the Saturday cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, and Murray was able to fly back in plenty of time to be a part of the special -- and sing the lost theme from "Jaws":

Macdonald is a big fan of golf himself, sometimes tweeting long, dry blocks of play-by-play of tournaments. We're glad he spent last week writing that latest -- and hysterical -- installment of "Celebrity Jeopardy" instead.
