No Tiger? No refund

December 15, 2009

Are those who bought tickets to a tournament in which Tiger Woods was expected to play entitled to a refund in the event he doesn't?

That was a question posed to Wade Dunagan, executive director of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, by the Arizona Daily Star.

Dunagan's answer, though perhaps not a popular one, was the right one. "There are no refunds or exchanges," he said. "We are hoping people are buying a ticket to an event and not an individual."

Woods has announced an indefinite leave from golf. Accenture has announced that it has ended its endorsement arrangement with Woods, who would be seeded No. 1 in the Match Play Championship should he elect to play.
