New, fan-friendly Tiger? Well, to an extent

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Tiger Woods' overt efforts to win over the crowd here -- smiling, waving, even posing for the occasional photograph --  have certainly struck a chord so far, to the extent, even, that there was speculation he would play in this afternoon's Par 3 contest.

Not so fast. Word is Woods is not playing in the Par 3, continuing his tradition of laying low the afternoon before the first round.
