Neal Shipley shares funny story he wishes didn't get cut from 'Full Swing'

Ask 100 golf fans for their opinion on the third season of Netflix's "Full Swing" and you'll likely get a wide range of answers. But good luck finding someone who didn't enjoy Neal Shipley's appearance in the show.
Shipley's memorable Masters debut in which he claimed low amateur honors (and managed to go viral) is a focal part of the season's opening episode. And Netflix's coverage of it is pretty amazing considering how guarded Augusta National is traditionally.
But the affable Shipley certainly isn't guarded, which makes his parts of the episode so good as he sheds some light on what it was like teeing it up with Tiger Woods on Sunday at Augusta, his Waffle House obsession, and living with roommates as a fifth-year senior at Ohio State. In fact, the guy delivered so much gold that one funny story he shared didn't even make the show's final cut.
Ahead of this week's Korn Ferry Tour event, Shipley shared the hilarious tale. He also revealed that he's "gluten-free now" and hasn't been to Waffle House "in a long time," something that will likely continue this week with the Korn Ferry Tour in Chile. Look at that! He's all grown up as a tour pro!
But anyway, back to the story. Listen to it here, starting at the 17-second mark:
"There's one thing that didn't make it onto the show," Shipley begins before explaining that as he drove down Magnolia Lane ahead of his Saturday tee time, he got a call from a college buddy. Surely, it must have been an emergency given the timing of the call with Neal about to play the biggest round of his life, right? Nope!
"Two hours before I tee off and my friend's calling me and it's literally asking me a stupid question about, like, 'Hey, can I grab this from your room back home?' And it's like, 'Yeah, dude, but like I literally tee off soon," Shipley continued. "Like, 'you have to call me about this right now?' I kind of wish that phone call made it in there, it was pretty funny."
So do we, Neal. So do we. Regardless, if "Full Swing" wants to do a Korn Ferry Tour episode in Season 4, they've certainly got the perfect guy to follow.
