Mike Davis pleased with course conditions

July 10, 2010

OAKMONT, Pa. -- Oakmont C.C. seems to be invincible in every sense of the word. Invincible to low scores. Invincible to near record-breaking heat. And invincible to torrential downpours.

So it comes as no surprise that Oakmont will likely play as difficult tomorrow as it had on Thursday, even after seeing more than two inches of rain on Friday night. Mike Davis, the USGA's senior director of rules and competitions, is pleased that the course is playing as difficult now as it has during previous U.S. Open Championships. (Click "play" below to listen to Davis explain the situation).

I'll go ahead and predict that nobody will finish the Championship under par. (Far fetched, I know.) Yes, Oakmont is just that unyielding.
