LIV caddie gets drilled in the head by bottle on rowdy 'Watering Hole'
LIV Golf's event in Adelaide has been arguably the new league's biggest success thus far while certainly producing the biggest crowds. But one of those fans got way too carried away Down Under on Saturday—and that led to a caddie nearly going down for the count.
For a second straight year, the 12th hole at The Grange Golf Club has been transformed into a stadium-like atmosphere seen at the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale. And like during the WM Phoenix Open, the crowds are extra rowdy at what's known as the "Watering Hole." Unfortunately, a full water bottle wound up hitting Lucas Herbert's looper, Nick Pugh.
Have a look as Herbert rolls in a six-foot birdie putt to end his round and fire up his home coountry crowd. But as Pugh goes to put the flagstick back in he gets drilled in the back of the head by what appears to be a full water bottle, causing him to drop to his knees:

Ouch. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like Pugh was seriously injured. News.Au.com reports Herbert was initially "worried" after his round, but everyone walked away OK from the incident.
Herbert's birdie capped a strong 65, but he's T-28 through two rounds. Brendan Steele leads at 14 under heading into the final round. In the team competition, Torque GC leads, but the Aussie squad, Ripper GC, including Herbert, is only two shots back.
Golf fans getting a bit too rowdy is nothing new. Earlier this year, the WM Phoenix Open had to stop alcohol sales and close the gates after several incidents, including a fight among fans and fans getting into it with players, including Zach Johnson and Billy Horschel.
To those attending the event in Adelaide on Sunday, be smart about the comments—and items—you hurl. And to those playing and caddieing, be careful.
