Lane Kiffin put on a troll job for the ages during his Monday press conference

December 15, 2020

Year one at Ole Miss has been an up-and-down one for Lane Kiffin, which is the story of his entire career. The Rebels have scored plenty of points, given up a ton as well, and they played both Alabama and Auburn close. At 4-4 thanks to a three-game winning streak, Kiffin now has a chance to finish his first season in Oxford over .500 with a win over LSU this Saturday.

Of course, it wouldn't be the full Kiffin experience if there were not rumors of him bolting for greener pastures in December. Much like Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders for many years, Kiffin will always be flirtatious with Tennessee, where he spent one 30-for-30-worthy season in 2009. And then there is the Auburn job, which just opened up this week after longtime Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn was fired after a 6-4 season.

During his Monday press conference, Kiffin squashed the rumors as only he could: by trolling Nick Saban, lightheartedly of course:

For those unaware, Kiffin is recalling Saban's famous "I'm not going to, SO QUIT ASKIN'" line to ESPN's Maria Taylor, who innocently asked him about the quarterback controversy he created in 2018:

We'll give Kiffin a F- on the delivery, but an A for effort. Also, in case you didn't notice, he's wearing a "Merry Flipmas" shirt, celebrating Early Signing Period SZN, when he'll attempt to flip recruits to Ole Miss:

A virtuoso troll job, as always. Just another great year aboard the Lane Train:
