Kid gets Augusta National invite for Drive Chip & Putt National Finals, loses his mind

February 01, 2024

Every year, we sign up for the Masters lottery, and every year we get denied. It’s a rite of passage, a beautiful tradition to remind us to strive for greatness even if we come up short.

But, if we were ever to receive that vaunted invitation, the chaos could only be compared to that of Godzilla waltzing through a metropolitan area. There’s no bigger moment than learning that you’re making it to Augusta National—well, maybe marriage and the birth of a child, but it’s debatable—and we love to see the youths learn just how big a deal this is.

“Well … the Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association and the PGA of America cordially invite you to participate in the Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals to be held on April 7, 2024, at Augusta National Golf Club. [Loud screeching].”

Yes, that’s our spirit animal reading his invitation letter and then sprinting around his house shirtless. As one does.

The letter is boilerplate, but the magic is certainly there. Plus, the mom immediately putting her head in her hands makes us think that this may not be the first time such an outsized reaction has come from her son.

No matter what, this is the type of energy we should all have with the majors rapidly approaching. The best players in the world will be at Augusta National, but most importantly this young golf legend will be teeing off. Hopefully with his shirt on.
