Kerr sets record for 54-hole lead

    June 26, 2010

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- With a little help from Mika Miyazato, who doubled the par-4 18th after finding the rough three times on her way to green, Cristie Kerr has just set a new record for the largest 54-hole lead in LPGA Championship history. At -13, she is eight shots ahead of Miyazato, Spanish rookie Azahara Munoz and South Korean Jimin Kang going into the final round.

The previous 54-hole-lead record was set by Mickey Wright in 1961. The largest victory margin in LPGA Championship history, 11 strokes, was accomplished by Betsy King in 1992. Something for Kerr to shoot for tomorrow.
