Jordan denies negative influence on Woods
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Michael Jordan's friendship with Tiger Woods has been under the tabloid microscope during the past several months since Woods' private life unraveled.
But during a call Saturday morning with Tom Sorensen and Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, Jordan deflected any rumors that he has led Woods astray during their relationship.
An article in the most recent Vanity Fair (owned by Conde Nast, which also owns Golf Digest), Jordan is implicated as being a poor influence on Woods. Although he hasn't read the story, the NBA Hall of Famer has heard about it.
Are the allegations true?
"No," said Jordan, who is now the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats.
Jordan told the Observer he talked with Woods on Tuesday and was impressed with his opening rounds of 68-70.
"He's done well," Jordan said.
