Jay Haas says he has a 13th player on standby with plane tickets and a uniform, if Jim Furyk can't play

October 01, 2015

Jim Furyk's withdrawal from the final two events of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season due to a wrist injury have left the veteran player's status for next week's Presidents Cup very much in doubt. With that being the case, it makes sense that U.S. captain Jay Haas has picked a potential alternate.

He's just not letting us know who the 13th man is.

Haas did an interview with SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio on Thursday and he said that Furyk is still hoping to play, but he has selected a backup if the 17-time winner can't give it a go. Team USA's man of mystery already has a plane ticket and a uniform. Here's the audio clip:

Brooks Koepka and J.B. Holmes seem the two likeliest candidates after neither were made captain's picks. We'll assume whoever the standby is won't be flying standby. That's no fun -- especially to South Korea.
