Jamie Farr Classic survives for another year

The LPGA announced Wednesday a one-year extension of the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger, in effect salvaging an event that was threatened with extinction under former commissioner Carolyn Bivens' reign.

In early July, Jamie Farr put the chances at continuing the tournament at 50-50. Toledo Blade columnist Dave Hackenberg discussed some of the obstacles Bivens had created to continuing the tournament.
