Jack Nicklaus’ grandson Nick O’Leary cut by Buffalo Bills

September 08, 2015

Jack Nicklaus’ grandson Nick O’Leary, a sixth-round draft choice, was cut by the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

O’Leary, who played college football at Florida State, was honored last season with the John Mackey Award, presented to the best tight end in the country.

The Bills had five tight ends on their 53-man roster until they re-signed quarterback Matt Cassel, for whom they cleared a roster spot by cutting O’Leary.

O’Leary caught only one pass for eight yards in the Bills’ four preseason games.

Nicklaus attended as many Florida State games as he could when O’Leary was playing for the Seminoles, including their Rose Bowl game with Oregon earlier this year.
