Irish Open: McIlroy opens three-stroke lead

May 21, 2016

Tournament host Rory McIlroy opened a three-stroke lead in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at the K Club in Kildare, Ireland on Sturday.

McIlroy, who is seeking his first victory of 2016, was two-under par through 15 holes in the third round when play was suspended for the day. Earlier in the day, inclement weather forced a long delay.

The third-ranked player in the world, McIlroy is at nine-under par, three ahead of Masters champion Danny Willett, who also has played 15 holes.
