The premiere date for season two of the Internet Invitational is here … and we won’t have to wait much longer
Remember the Internet Invitational? Luke Kwon oversleeping his tee time? The Jon Gruden speech? Chazzy? Beef (RIP)? Slope-gate? It’s been almost a year since Barstool Sports/Bob Does Sports brain child took over the golf world, introducing many to this “YouTube golf” thing they’d been hearing about.
In the wake of the golf influencer Super Bowl, Barstool Sports’ czar Dave Portnoy promised bigger and better—especially in terms of the money at stake—and now we’re about to see if he’s lived up to his promise. This week, the premiere date for the second annual Internet Invitational was finally revealed, and to the relief of the millions of golf fans who have been waiting patiently, it’s very, very soon.
That’s right. The Internet Invitational will be back in our lives and living rooms in less than two weeks’ time, with the first episode premiering on Monday Oct. 26. In total, tournament will comprise six episodes, all filmed in early August at Big Cedar Lodge. New episodes will premiere on Mondays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. ET until the finale on Nov. 12, and will air on the YouTube channels of Fore Play, Bob Does Sports and the Internet Invitational itself.
Along with the schedule, we also got a full roster reveal including new celebrity faces such as former Heisman winner Johnny “Football” Manziel and NBA cult hero Jason Williams, as well as a few returning favorites such as The Duke, Frankie "Butter Knives" Borrelli and, of course, Malosi Togisala. The winner’s purse will also increase from $1 million to $4 million, ensuring the Internet Invitational 2.0 will be just as entertaining, and controversial, as its predecessor.
