It’s been a while since the LPGA and PGA Tour help a co-sanctioned mixed team event. How long? Well, roughly a dozen of the participants at this week’s Grant Thornton Invitational weren’t yet in elementary school the last time the two tours combined forces at the 1999 JCPenney Classic, and two weren’t born.

The opportunity for the two tours to share the stage has been something LPGA players have clamored for for some time. In the event’s precursor, the QBE Shootout, Nelly Korda and Lexi Thompson had teamed with a male counterpart, foreshadowing this week’s 54-hole event.

Teams played a scramble format on Friday at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla., alternate shot on Saturday and a modified four-ball (each player hits a drive and then they play the other player’s ball to the green) for Sunday’s final round. In the end, the duo of Lydia Ko and Jason Day came out on top, posting a 26-under 190 total, including a Sunday six-under 66, to beat Brooke Henderson and Corey Conners by a stroke.

Suffice it to say, the prize money payout for those in the field makes for a nice end-of-the-year bonus. The overall purse is $4 million. Here’s the breakdown for each team. We’ll update this list shortly after the conclusion of play on Sunday.
