Here's the prize money payout for each golfer at the 2021 Northern Trust

A warning to the field at next week’s BMW Championship: If you want to win the tournament, it’s best you not be leading the event after 54 holes. Not if the recent trend on the PGA Tour keeps holding true.
Not since Phil Mickelson took the PGA Championship title 13 weeks ago has a golfer atop the leader board with 18 holes to play finished off the win in the final round of a tour event. That continued at this week’s Northern Trust when Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith couldn’t close things out on Monday at Liberty National.
With bogeys on two of the final four holes, Rahm shot a two-under 69 in the rain-delayed final round that, which wasn't enough to fend off hard-charging Tony Finau who shot 65 to get to 20 under, two shots ahead of Rahm.
Smith got to 20 under, too, shooting closing 67 to force a playoff. But when he hit his drive on the first extra hole out of bounds, Finau pulled out the victory with a par. In the process, he grabbed his second career tour win after so many close calls since his first victory at the 2016 Puerto Rico Open some 1,975 days ago.
With his win, Finau, who was five under for his final seven holes, jumped to first in the FedEx Cup points race with two events to play in the 2020-21 season. He also claimed the $1.71 million first-place prize money payout from the overall purse of $9.7 million. Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer who made the cut this week.
