A victory on Sunday at the Sanderson Farms Championship was going to have decided different impacts on the three co-leaders heading into the final round at C.C. of Jackson. To say which one might be “impacted” the most, however, depended on your perspective.

For Cameron Davis, a 25-year-old Australian in this third season on the PGA Tour, it would have meant grabbing his maiden PGA Tour win and extending the tournament’s streak to seven straight years in which it has seen a first-time tour winner lift the kickin' chicken trophy.

For J.T. Poston, a 27-year-old from North Carolina in his fifth season on tour, it would have been a second victory to go with the 2019 Wyndham Championship and renewed confidence.

For Sergio Garcia, a 40-year-old Spaniard in his 22nd season on tour, it meant an 11th career PGA Tour title, one he secured when he stiffed his approach shot on the 18th hole to inside three feet and made the birdie for a closing 67 and a one-stroke win. It was Garcia's first PGA Tour win since his victory at the 2017 Masters and came just a week after he fell out of the top 50 of the World Ranking for the first time since 2011.

Indeed, in a strange way, it probably was Garcia who “needed” the victory most given his recent struggles.

Conversely, Garcia needed the win the least in terms of benefitting from the prize money payout. The purse in Mississippi is $6.6 million with the winner taking home $1.18 million. Garcia already has made more than $50 million in PGA Tour earnings; the victory would bumped him past Matt Kuchar into ninth on the all-time career earnings list.

Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer who made the cut in Mississippi.
