Golfers in the Atlanta area are getting robbed during their rounds

January 13, 2016

A group of thieves has been targeting golfers at three Atlanta-area golf courses, according to AJC.com. And we're not talking about having things stolen out of locker rooms. We mean on the golf course.

According to the report, thieves are waiting on holes near roads and when golfers aren't paying attention, they pounce. Then they run back to their cars and take off. Terri Chandler, who had her purse and her wedding ring stolen from her golf cart while she was putting, is one of five victims so far.

“It’s unnerving someone would be that bold,” she said.

Police have caught one man for using a stolen credit card, but are still looking for other suspects. In the meantime, if you're playing golf in the Atlanta area, keep an extra close eye on your belongings.
