From the clubhouse to the doghouse, golfer goes viral for working on his swing in hospital room during wife’s labor

Summer is here, and golfers from Tucson to Timbuktu are grinding to get their games into shape. Whether prepping for that big Scotland trip or simply trying to break 80, we’re all getting our cuts in anywhere we can, from the range to the supermarket to … the delivery room?

At least that’s what TikToker Steven Rideaux (@RoundsWithRideaux) did this week while passing the time during his wife D’asha’s 12-hour labor. Instead of sitting at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital doomscrolling on his phone, he brought his clubs and started racking up those club contacts.

Though he may never be allowed out of the doghouse again, his efforts did turn him into viral star, tallying up over 46,000 likes on TikTok. Part of that is due to sheer audacity of working on your takeaway while your wife is trying to create a human being, but Rideaux also gets points for resourcefulness, using the room divider as a ball net and a bucket as a chipping target. Thankfully, he stopped short of deputizing the bedpan for putting practice.

Anyway, here’s hoping Steven and D’asha’s child arrived happy and healthy, and one day grows to love something as much as their pops loves the game of golf.
