Golf is likely to get its fifth major
Golf is now on the fast track to becoming an Olympic sport in 2016, as the International Olympic Committee's executive board on Thursday proposed its inclusion (along with rugby sevens). The final step, believed to be a formality, will be ratification by the 106-member IOC assembly in October.
The game's brightest lights said all the right things regarding golf's Olympic bid, including Tiger Woods, though his commitment to actually participating in the Olympics was tepid. "If I'm not retired by then, yeah," Woods said. Pressed further as to whether he would play, he replied, "Yep."
