Golf Digest journalist qualifies for U.S. Amateur

    July 22, 2013

Some exciting news on the home front: Golf Digest staff writer Max Adler shot 68-68 at Shorehaven Golf Club in East Norwalk, Conn., on Monday to qualify for the 2013 U.S. Amateur as medalist. He joins E. Michael Johnson as the second current Golf Digest staffer to have qualified for a U.S. Amateur.

Thanks for the good wishes everybody. Beyond thrilled to be going to US Amateur. #brookline.

-- Max Adler (@MaxAdlerGD) July 22, 2013 The tournament in Brookline will mark Adler's first U.S. Amateur Championship, but it won't be his first USGA event. In 2010, he qualified for the U.S. Amateur Public Links with scores of 76-65 -- competing alongside some of the best amateurs in the country all while writing the game story for Golf Digest's sister publication, Golf World.

And so, Max, on behalf of everyone at Golf Digest, congratulations. Oh, and one more thing: Next time we go play, we're getting more strokes.
