The limited edition, 12-piece collection dropped Monday from G/Fore and Mr. Porter couldn’t have been timed better. Following a Masters where loud, boundary-pushing fashion dominated the headlines, the latest capsule offers a thoughtful, measured line of stylish golf essentials for men, acting as a kind of minimalist salve for a week of dizzying golf style news. The pieces feature a slight (though exciting) departure from G/Fore signature bold, saturated hues and geometric patterns, opting for select styles that play up basics (think polos, shorts, and spikes) with the same architectural attention to details and luxe materials that the L.A.-based G/Fore—and the men’s fashion curatorial group Mr. P—is known for.

The collection includes two different kinds of tops. First is a classic cotton polo available in cloud gray and sky blue. The second is a golfer’s take on one of Mr. P’s signature styles, which features an open collar polo with subtle accent trim, this model available in dusted rose and a regal cobalt. The pants are elevated, versatile basics: one short and one trouser, both in a soft, stretchy, performance-ready twill.

In terms of accessories, the capsule includes one extremely svelte navy golf bag and a gentlemen’s classic leather golf glove in bright white. To match both is a retro-cool crochet bucket hat in ivory with indigo trim.

And finally, two styles of waterproof G/Fore golf shoes, the Gallivanter and its relative, the Gallivan2r, get the Mr. P treatment in navy and white washes respectively (be sure to check out those cheeky apple green spikes winking from the Gallivanter).

While many of us love our wild golf shirts and rainbow-hued glove collection, there is something to be said for a more edited golf wardrobe. Academic studies have even linked capsule wardrobes to mental health, finding that for some, a limited wardrobe can lead to a rewarding, calm confidence and ease in dressing. And on the topic of mental health, 50 percent of net profits from the collection (when purchased from the MR PORTER website) will go toward supporting men’s mental health and physical wellbeing via the MR PORTER Health In Mind Fund in partnership with Movember for the first month of sales.
