Watch a frustrated PGA Tour pro pull off the rare triple driver smash

June 27, 2025

The U.S. Open at Oakmont produced arguably the most prolific week of tour pro outbursts ever. There were locker smashes, tee marker smashes and regular old club smashes. But none were quite like the frustrated reaction of one golfer during Friday's second round of the Rocket Classic.

That's where Stephan Jaeger pulled off not just a driver smash, but a triple driver smash. And we say pulled it off, because somehow it appears that Jaeger's club didn't break because of it.

Have a look as Jaeger smashes his tee shot way left on the par-5 4th at Detroit Golf Club—and then smashes his driver into the tee box three times in a row:

And what a great play-by-play call on PGA Tour Live! "No surprise, Stephen Jaeger plenty of power here . . . and a lot of frustration."

Look, we get it. There's a lot on the line for these guys and sometimes their emotions boil over. But it does seem like we're seeing more and more of these type of reactions lately. And they can't blame the USGA this week!

In any event, even rarer was was Jaeger did next. After hitting a recovery shot up by the green, he got up and down for birdie. These guys are good. Even when they feel like they're not playing good.
