Final women's spring poll has USC No. 1
USC, Nova Southeastern nor Methodist is a stranger to being ranked atop their respective divisions Golf World/NGCA women's coaches' polls. As the NCAA postseason beckons, each finds themselves with the No. 1 ranking in the final voting for the spring season
The Trojans defeated previously top-ranked UCLA at the Pac-10 Championship to reclaim the top ranking. They've won three times, finished no worse than third in any of their nine starts and are the No. 1 seed in this week's West Regional.
The biggest move of any school in the poll was North Carolina, which jumped from T-23 to 16th after the Tar Heels won their first ACC Championship since 1992.
Having claimed the No. 1 ranking at the start of the 2010-11 season, Nova Southeastern remained the top squad in the final D-II poll of the spring. The Sharks, who grabbed 11 of the 12 first-place votes available, look poised to win their third-straight NCAA title after winning the Sunshine State Conference title, the team's sixth victory in eight starts.
Methodist, looking to win an amazing 14th straight NCAA title, not surprisingly enters the postseason as the top-ranked school in the D-III poll. However, DePauw is trying its best to de-throne the Monarchs, having claimed an equal number of first-place votes (7 apiece) and trailing Methodist by one point overall.
