Fantasy Golf: What should we expect from Bryson DeChambeau's pro debut?

April 13, 2016

The bad news? The Masters is in the books. The good news? There's still a LOT of golf to be played on the PGA Tour in 2016 and it continues this week. Nine of the top 30 players in the world are teeing it up in Hilton Head, not a bad post-major crop. Of course, it helps that Harbour Town is the second-most popular track on tour, behind only Augusta National. So who is ready to tame this Pete Dye course and win a (plaid) jacket of his own? Here's who I'm taking on my PGA Tour Fantasy Golf team at the RBC Heritage:

Bryson DeChambeau: He's certainly not the highest-ranked player in the field this week, but no one will get more attention -- at least, on Thursday -- than the 22-year-old star who is making his pro debut. DeChambeau had an interesting week at the Masters that included playing himself into contention, "popping out his hip," and making one of the craziest triple bogeys you'll see.

He acknowledged being tired by the end of the week, but he'll have plenty of adrenaline playing for big bucks for the first time. Call me a "Beau-liever." Is that a thing? Let's make that a thing.*

Jason Day: Still No. 1 in the world with Jordan Spieth failing to close the deal at Augusta National, we were thinking of staying away from Day in this event -- until we saw this photo on Wednesday:

Luke Donald: A former World No. 1 who is motivated for a different reason. Donald watched fellow Englishman Danny Willett win the green jacket while he missed out on a Masters invite for the first time since 2004. But Harbour Town is the perfect track for him to get back on track. Donald has five top-three finishes here, including three runner-ups, in his last seven trips.

Brandt Snedeker: A winner at Hilton Head in 2011, Snedeker has just one top-25 finish here since. But he's coming off a T-10 at the Masters and a solid showing at the Match Play.

__ Bench:__ Kevin Na and Jason Dufner.

*-Apparently, DeChambeau can't be taken in PGA Tour Fantasy Golf. I'll sub Kevin Na into my official lineup instead, but know that I'm still very much a Beau-liever.

And for those of you playing other fantasy golf formats:
