Fantasy Golf Podcast: Will Sergio Garcia claim Olympic gold?

The field for golf's return to the Olympics isn't quite what we had hoped for, it's still the first time in our lifetime that golfers will compete for a gold medal. And fans get some bonus golf in the John Deere Classic. Listen to Joel Beall and I break it all down, discuss Sergio Garcia's chances of winning gold for Spain, Rio's on-course wildlife, and whether caddies will be on the medal stand in our weekly podcast:

And if you're more old-school and would rather just read my normal weekly picks, here's who I'm taking on my PGA Tour Fantasy Golf team at TPC Deere Run:

Zach Johnson: He's won this event, finished second three times and third another. And that's all since 2009. There's a reason why he's the overwhelming Vegas favorite at 7/1. Oh yeah, he's also posted 28 consecutive rounds in the 60s at TPC Deere Run.

Steve Stricker: A winner of this tournament for three years straight (2009-2011), the Strick Show has been firing on all cylinders of late with a runner-up at the FedEx St. Jude and a fourth at the Open Championship. The Ryder Cup vice captain is also quietly trying to make a run to nab a captain's pick as a player.

Daniel Summerhays: How about the run this guy has been on this summer? A T-8 at Oakmont, a solo third at the PGA Championship and a T-11 at the Travelers. And he's finished T-4, T-13 and T-8 his past three trips to TPC Deere Run.

Wesley Bryan: Fresh off a "battlefield promotion" from the Web.com Tour, Bryan only gets two starts on the PGA Tour before the regular season finishes. But don't be surprised if he makes some noise in his limited opportunities before getting a longer look at the big tour next season.

__ Bench:__ Jerry Kelly and Kevin Na.

As for the Olympics, I'm picking Sergio Garcia, because wouldn't that just be so Sergio? And as for some long shots in Rio, I like Alex Cejka (80/1), Jaco Van Zyl (100/1) and Haotong Li (150/1).

And for those of you playing other fantasy golf formats:

Yahoo! lineup: Ryan Moore, Zach Johnson, Jerry Kelly, Steve Stricker (starters); John Senden, Robert Streb, Zac Blair, Daniel Summerhays (bench).

Knockout/One-and-done pick: Steve Stricker.

Previously used: Kevin Chappell (Quicken Loans), Jason Day (PGA Championship), Bryson DeChambeau (Valero), Luke Donald (Valspar), Jason Dufner (RBC), Matt Every (Bay Hill), Tony Finau (Frys.com), Jim Furyk (Canadian), Sergio Garcia (Riviera), Bill Haas (Farmers), J.B. Holmes (Wells Fargo), Dustin Johnson (U.S. Open -- winner!), Kevin Kisner (RSM -- winner!), Russell Knox (Honda), Brooks Koepka (St. Jude), Matt Kuchar (Colonial), Anirban Lahiri (CIMB), Graeme McDowell (Hyundai), Ryan Moore (Travelers), Kevin Na (Phoenix), Ryan Palmer (CareerBuilders), Scott Piercy (Byron Nelson), Patrick Reed (HSBC), Patrick Rodgers (Shriners), Adam Scott (British Open), Brandt Snedeker (Pebble), Brendan Steele (OHL), Henrik Stenson (Players), Justin Thomas (Sony), Bubba Watson (Masters).
