Fantasy Golf: Adam Scott AND Matt Every are looking for three-peats at Bay Hill

March 16, 2016

It's a good time to be a recent Masters champ. OK, so it's always a good time to be a recent Masters champ, what with the fame and fortune that comes with a green jacket. But of late, these guys are really rounding into form. Consider that the past four PGA Tour events have been won by three men (Bubba Watson, Adam Scott, and Charl Schwartzel) who have won at Augusta National in the past five years. So what does it all mean for this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational? Probably about as much as picking your March Madness bracket off of recent champions. In any matter, here's who we're taking on our PGA Tour Fantasy Golf team at Bay Hill:

Adam Scott: Pulling off three PGA Tour wins in a row is a tall order, but keep in mind how close the Aussie already was to doing it with his runner-up finish at Riviera before his back-to-back wins at the Honda and Doral. Plus, Donald Trump's new favorite golfer also holds a share of the Bay Hill course record with a 62 in 2014's first round.

Matt Every: Another golfer going for a three-peat. We don't blame you if you forgot Every is the two-time defending champ in this event -- especially since those are the only two PGA Tour titles of his career and he hasn't had a top 10 since last March. Still, it's tough to ignore the man who's middle name is King -- and his scoring average of 68 here the past two years.

Rory McIlroy: And Sundays aside, McIlroy has played great in 2016. Even with his rough final round at Doral, he finished T-3, and he finished T-11 in his first trip to Arnie's event last year. Perhaps, his puzzling performances on Sundays are why he turned to working on an actual puzzle on Tuesday.

Sung Kang: And our sleeper of the week (If you don't count the two-time defending champ. I guess you can't ever count a two-time defending champ as a sleeper...) is Kang, who has quietly recorded four consecutive top-25 finishes, including a T-8 at Riviera and a T-10 at the Honda Classic. After making just seven cuts in 30 starts last season, Kang has turned things around, thanks in large part to Jim Furyk's caddie, Mike "Fluff" Cowan. With Furyk targeting a May return, Kang needs to make the most of the remaining time he has with Fluff.

__ Bench:__ Justin Rose and Ryan Moore.
