Dustin Johnson moves to No. 3 in world rankings

Following a controversial, nonetheless rewarding, U.S. Open victory for Dustin Johnson at Oakmont Country Club, the first-time major winner ascended to No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Ranking sixth the week prior, Johnson knocked Rory McIlroy down to fourth in the ranking, McIlroy's lowest ranking since 2014.

Johnson had fallen as far as 23rd in 2015, following his six-month absence in 2014, and a number of missed cuts. However, a victory at the 2015 WGC-Cadillac Championship moved him back to seventh. Since then, Johnson had never fallen out of the top ten in the ranking, and has only missed one cut.
