Drones will start dropping snacks to golfers at a Japanese golf course

March 28, 2016

We keep hearing how drones are the future in golf. Even if you're not a big photographer on the course, it appears there might be reason to pay attention to drones and their effect on the game.

Golfers in Japan will be able to order their snacks through their smartphones, according to the Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten, and the grub will be dropped to golfers on the course. The article references a golf course in eastern Tokyo, near the University of Chiba, but doesn't specify which course this is.

The company is working with a company called Autonomous Control Systems Laboratory and the university on this drone development.

There's no word on whether beers will be included in the offering in Japan. If not, that seems like a miss.
