DP World Tour pro takes off shirt and unbuckles belt(?) to play muddy recovery shot

May 24, 2024

From time to time you see a tour pro go shirtless to play a shot from the water. Even rarer, you see one strip all the way down to his underwear. Who could ever forget Henrik Stenson in his skivvies at Doral? Good times.

But going no shirt with pants and leaving your belt unbuckled? That might be a first.

But there was the DP World Tour's Louis De Jager showing off an, um, interesting look—and quite a golfer's tan line—during Day 2 of the Soudal Open in Belgium. The South African found a hazard with his tee shot on the 13th hole, and then got adjusted to splash out his recovery shot. Check it out:

"Has the shirt off, the belt undone," one announcer says in the clip. "Is this really necessary?"

"Well, he obviously doesn't want to get mud on his shirt," another commentator replied. "So, yes."

Fair enough. And Louis did have five more holes to play after that so he wanted to stay dry. But what is going on with that belt situation? And why did he leave his shoes on? White shoes at that!

Anyway, De Jager, currently No. 306 in the Official World Golf Ranking, made bogey on the hole, but bounced back with a pair of birdies after that, meaning he should be in good shape to make a nice check this weekend. And his shirt should be in good shape as well.
