The second element to building length off the tee after center contact is sequencing your downswing correctly. That can sometimes be hard to feel with a driver. Grab a towel instead, and swing it back so that it flops on top of your rear shoulder. On the downswing, keep the towel in place on your shoulder for as long as possible before whipping it through. This will encourage your lower body to activate first. Once you’ve done it a few times with a towel, grab your driver and practice the same feel, letting the shaft actually sit on your shoulder as you make your first downswing move. Lastly, hit a series of balls with that same feel, but from a normal top-of-the-backswing position.
