Davis Love III's son might be having an even better day than his father

Davis Love III's 2016 Ryder Cup captaincy becomes official later today. Before the big announcement, though, Love received good news about another golfer in his family.

Love's son, Dru, won his first collegiate title earlier on Tuesday when he tied for medalist honors at the Puerto Rico Classic. It was just the fourth official start for the redshirt sophomore at the University of Alabama.

"It's an incredible day for our family," Dru told GolfChannel.com.

Dru also said he spoke with his father on Monday and that the 20-time PGA Tour winner sent him two texts before his final round today: "You're ready. Just go get 'em" and "Take dead aim."

Perhaps, Davis has found the magic words to say to his team at Hazeltine next fall.
