Darren Clarke announced his first wave of Ryder Cup vice captains on Friday at the BMW PGA Championship.

Clarke pegged Thomas Bjorn, Padraig Harrington and Paul Lawrie as three of his assistants for this year's match at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

Harrington, a three-time major champion, was an assistant for the European team in their 2014 victory. Bjorn played in the Ryder Cup in 2014, yet has also been a vice captain three times. Lawrie, who won the 1999 Open, will be an assistant for the first time.

The trio has 10 collective Ryder Cup appearances as players, with a 14-18-6 record.

Clarke has the ability to name five total assistants. U.S. captain Davis Love III has announced four of his assistants in Tiger Woods, Tom Lehman, Steve Stricker and Jim Furyk.
