John Daly surely has withdrawn from more tournaments this decade than anyone on the PGA Tour, for myriad reasons, some of them having to do with injury. His withdrawal from the PGA Championship Thursday after opening with a 78 was the 23rd WD he's had since 2000.
Daly cited a back injury that he dates to the Honda Classic in 2007, when he attempted to stop his swing after a camera clicked. He withdrew from that tournament, citing a rib injury.
"Flash camera back injury from 3 yrs ago still haunting me--pain is just unbearable making it tough to play--stretch all day thru the round," he wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
He provided an update on Twitter on Friday: "My back is killing me--just relaxing with my gf and gonna have to get better with a little rehab."
