Daly: Let bygone$ be bygone$

August 13, 2009

In the Australian Open last December, John Daly took a spectator's camera and smashed it against a tree while missing the cut for the third straight week Down Under. He vowed he was never going back to Australia, though no doubt with an unspoken caveat: Unless he was promised another large appearance fee to return.

So it is that Daly again will play there, in the Australian PGA Championship in December. News reports also indicated he might play in the Australia Open a week earlier.

When money talks, people tend to listen, particularly those attempting to climb from a financial hole. Daly is attempting to avert bankruptcy, for which large appearance fees are helpful.

It's a safe bet that he's simply following the money, and in this case it leads back to Australia in December.
