The Dallas Stars made a curious omission when showing Scottie Scheffler on the Jumbotron

Save for later

With the PGA Tour at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, this week, the timing couldn't have been better for Scottie Scheffler, a noted fan of Dallas sports teams. Less than an hour away, the Stars had Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on the slate for Wednesday evening.

Naturally, Scheffler made the short trek to American Airlines Area, because that's what you do when you're on top of the golf world. You find the nearest luxury box at one of your favorite team's playoff games and you have yourself a little night (See: Koepka, Brooks, 2023 Florida Panthers playoff run).

While Scheffler probably wasn't going quite as hard in the paint as Koepka did for the Ps, he did look to be enjoying himself and he did get Jumbotron treatment. The arena hit the "Caddyshack" music (nice touch) and Scheffler got a nice ovation coming off the PGA Championship victory. The only issue? There was no note of that PGA Championship victory on the screen:

"Two-time Masters Champion." Oof. That has to hit like a piano to the head for the PGA of America. The disrespect. Couldn't even give him the "three-time major champion" moniker. Brutal. Masters remains the King.

Scheffler's appearance at first turned ominous with the Edmonton Oilers scoring shortly after to take a 3-1 lead. But then, like Scheffler on Saturday at Quail Hollow, the Stars came STORMING back, scoring five goals in the third period to tale Game 1 6-3. Everything coming up Scottie.
