Colonial: Spieth two back of Molder
Jordan Spieth continued his hot play at the Dean & Deluca Invitational on Friday, shooting a four-under 66 in the second round at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Spieth finished 36 holes in seven-under par 133, two shots behind leader Bryce Molder, who had completed only 14 holes when play was suspended for the night.
"The greens were, I think, two feet faster than yesterday," said Spieth. "It just took me a little while to adjust, as you could see on the first four holes or so. Once we made that adjustment, we were a little better on the greens, and set up by the fairways hit."
Molder, who was three-under through on his round, was one of 61 players still on the course as a result of a 5 ½-hour weather delay. The second round will continue on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. CST.
Webb Simpson, seeking his first PGA Tour win since 2013, shot a three-under 67 that included a birdie on 18 to put him in second place at eight-under, one behind Molder.
Jason Dufner, meanwhile, is tied for fifth with Anirban Lahiri and Ryan Palmer at six-under and three strokes off the lead.
The projected cut line is one-over par. Bryson DeChambeau (three-over), Adam Scott (two-over through eight) and Jim Furyk (three-over) are in danger of missing the cut.
