The formerly clustered leaderboard at the WGC-Workday Championship has turned into a one-man breakaway thanks to the early theatrics of Collin Morikawa.

The 24-year-old who captured his first major at last year's PGA Championship is threatening to win another big trophy, and eight birdies in his first 12 holes on Saturday did nothing to hurt the cause. Following a front nine of 31, Morikawa birdied 11 and 12 to get to 17 under. That was five shots ahead of Billy Horschel. A birdie streak of five straight (Nos.5-9) was the longest of Morikawa’s career (and one shy of the longest streak by anybody in the year so far.)

This is no longer anyone's tournament—now the field must come to him.
