15-year-old college recruit Mason Nome makes a hole-in-one AND an albatross in the same round
It's been nearly two years since an eighth-grader, Mason Nome, committed to playing golf at the University of Texas. Yes, an eighth-grader. And apparently, he's still tracking on phenom status at 15.
On Friday, Nome did something few golfers have ever done when he made a hole-in-one AND an albatross in the same round. Check out this incredible scorecard:
Mason, who isn't scheduled to be a Longhorn until 2019, made sure to let everyone know he played from the tips at Black Hawk Country Club in Richmond, Texas, during his 66. I would, too. If I ever played from the tips.
And we'll forgive Mason for that double bogey immediately following the double eagle (a holed 5-iron from 190 yards) at Black Hawk Country Club in Richmond, Texas. Imagine how jacked up Nome was at that point?
“It was funny because I was only planning on playing six holes, but decided to go finish nine,” Nome told Golfweek. “At that point, I figured I had to finish.”
Good call.
